Five original 11th-century Viking ships, excavated from Roskilde Fjord in 1962, are on display in the Viking Ship Hall. Many activities are available on Museum Island. The museum boatyard is located on the island, where different boats are being reconstructed The large museum boat collection, containing Viking ships and other Nordic boats, is berthed in the harbour on Museum Island – and the collection is not just for show. During the summer season, boat trips are arranged several times daily, allowing visitors to try their hand at the oars or setting the sail.
